Where does your camp registration go?

At Coutts-Moriarty, the Board of trustees, with the camp Director work very hard to keep registration fees at the bare minimum with out jeopardizing the quality of programs, staff and the safety of the campers.  The Board of Trustees is made up of local individuals who donate their time to the camp.  The Board hires staff to put on the camp itself but organizes volunteer help to open up the camp in the spring and close it in the fall.  Below is a chart showing how the 2008 budget uses registration fees.

What is the Board of Trustees doing to stabilize or lower costs?

  1. To help keep registration fees lower the camp is renting out the camp in the off season.  Through collaboration with Sisken Ecological, many school groups have after school programs at the camp.  The Board is continually looking for partnerships such as this one to help generate revenue in the off-season.  All profits raised go directly back into the camp.
  2. The Board of Trustees and the Camp Directors with staff spends a lot of time researching and writing grants for building upgrades and camp scholarships.
  3. The Board of Trustees maintains a scholarship fund to help offset the cost of registration to qualified families.  This fund comes from grants and generous donations from individuals and businesses.  We feel that a camper should not be denied the opportunity to attend Coutts due to their financial situation.
  4. The Board is constantly looking at how they market the camp to boost enrollment at camp.

What can you do to stabilize or lower costs at Coutts?

  1. Volunteering time.  Coutts has always had a strong tradition of volunteers.  When Coutts can get volunteer help they do not need to pay for those services.  Coutts specifically needs help in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, office assistance, lawn and grounds clean up, painting, cleaning buildings, nature trail development and maintenance, and much more.  Consider donating a few hours or day or days.
  2. Donate needed materials to the camp.  The more donated items we get the less we need to purchase.  Needs include office products, paper products, cleaning supplies, lumber and hardware, paint, canoes, kayaks, basketballs, soccer balls, arts and crafts materials, and many more items.
  3. Join the Board of Trustees.  The Board is looking for high energy motivated members with a strong commitment to the future of Coutts Moriarty.
Donate to the scholarship fund to help a camper come to Coutts.
